Spam: as physical object

Bringing Spam to the physical world and exploring how giving online advertising a print form changes our value of it. The tool of tracking user data on the internet has become widely accessable, but the style of pay-per-click online advertising has been shown to be an inaccurate indicator of the revenue an ad generates.

This project comes as the low cost advertising moves from printed matter to a higher instance of digital ads the general population has become more discerning because of the flood of digital ads. This is all to say the model of low cost digital advertisement to reach a wide audience has become so low impact it has far to little value for companies, so I wanted to experiment and see if giving these ads objecthood would make them anymore appealing. For the design I wanted a simple system that borrowed from the naive visual language of email Spam, all of the ads were targeted based on users browser history.
