WeChat Censorship
Wechat is primarily a messaging app with incredible popularity in China and is gaining traction across the globe. However in china the functions extend into basically every facet of daily life and because it is regulated heavily by the government the Wechat space becomes complicit in survielance of people who use the app around the world. So I am interested in low-tech obfuscation methods through type manipulation that could help users avoid being monitored.

Research

Because large scale surviellance with "human monitors" is relatively expensice most of the surviellance is carried out through keyword recognition, so to combat this I created a simple program in Nodebox (an opensource program) that resamples the vector lines of type to make a scaleable svg file for use in mini-apps withing the wechat enviroment as well as being converted into a .jpeg to send through messaging.
